I grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and went to undergrad at Williams College (in Massachussetts). I'm in my 3rd year at Stanford, and split my time between working on a PhD in Operations Research, playing board games, learning to dance, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and (of course) spending time outdoors!
Most of my early camping memories are from canoe trips to the Boundary Waters, which I still visit each year with friends from high school. I later got involved with Boy Scouts and began to go backpacking and snow camping. While I was at Williams, my dad, brother and I hiked several big chunks of the Appalachian trail. I love talking to people, love the outdoors, and love talking to people about the outdoors, so get in touch if you want to plan a trip or discuss great camping options near campus!
Hannah Beutler
Hi! I’m Hannah Beutler and am in the class of 2016, planning to declare in Civil Engineering. I am originally from Switzerland, but grew up in Alaska, spending summers in the town of Seward and winters in a remote cabin off the road system. My love for the outdoors came at an early age when my parents took me on backpacking trips out into the Alaskan wilderness. I have never stopped climbing mountains, kayaking the oceans and enjoying nights under the stars. I joined Redwood as a leader in winter quarter of 2013 and love leading trips. Hope to go backpacking with you soon!
Nessarose Schear
Born and raised in Cambridge Massachusetts, Nessarose was very excited to move to California aka land of avocados and the Sierras. She has been leading Redwood trips all over the Sierras and the Coast since sophomore year, and has lead SPOT as well. At Stanford she is finishing up her senior year as an Earth Systems major, and loves to learn about the ecology and natural history of the places she explores.
Veronica Stamats
I'm a sophomore studying architectural design. I was homeschooled in San Francisco so I got to participate in nature studies programs in the area and quickly learned to love all things outdoors. I'm most excited about backpacking and further developing my skills in mountaineering and rock climbing.
Sean Scott
I'm a CS major from Connecticut and Germany, and I love backpacking! I've been with Redwood since the beginning of my sophomore year, and have been to Lassen, Henry Coe, North Tahoe, Yosemite, and Big Basin. Other than that, I play for Stanford Ultimate and have been involved with Stanford Habitat for Humanity. I also love making trips happen so let me know if I can help!
